My second time here and it's great for a quick casual sushi dinner. Definitely recommend if you love sashimi, there's only about 10 rolls options. I love sashimi so it was great, very fresh and good amount for the price!

Great service, food came very fast. Iced tea was good. The hamachi was fine, the salmon was a little tough, the salmon & avocado maki was decent. They don't seem to make things not on the menu like a hamachi & scallion maki. I wouldn't come out of my way for sushi here, but it was made quickly and server was very prompt.

~First Impressions~ A hole-in-the-wall restaurant with pretty good quality food! The space feels small and a little cramped but the service is quick and friendly. Things are a bit expensive but it's a good place to treat yourself every once in a while. ~The Food~ The maki had a good proportion of rice to fish and didn't feel heavy like some places. The spicy tuna and caterpillar maki's felt fairly fresh with good textures. The Niki udon was warm and perfect with the sushi. The Kuromon don also had fresh and tasty sashimi. Although the portions were small the taste was great. The Matcha Zensai dessert was super soft and homemade. The red bean was sweet without tasting too bean-y and the ice cream was a perfect balance without being overly sweet. ~The Logistics~ As always with places in Chinatown, parking is fairly difficult to come by. The restaurant itself is also pretty small without too much seating. We were able to get a dinner seat at the bar fairly quickly but the lines were starting to get long with people waiting.

I did not expect this hole in the wall to be so good! Located in Chinatown in a dimly lit basement it has a nice comfortable ambience to it on the inside that I did not see coming. The sushi was very fresh, none of the fish tasted fishy and the salmon, tuna, and yellowtail were all nice and buttery. We splurged on a few nice rolls - the Shirayuki roll was absolutely outstanding! Yellowtail, tuna, salmon, mango, all in one roll with white truffle oil. Truffle oil hater snobs, get outta here! Sometimes it just hits the spot, and this was definitely one of those times. The food all arrived promptly and was presented nicely. We got a table on a Thursday during peak lunchtime without any wait. The miso soup was warm and savory, nothing too mind blowing but nice. The service was outstanding and kind - one of our items was forgotten but was refunded from our tab without a hitch.

Just passed through as a tourist in Boston Chinatown. Stopped by Tora for a nice quick lunch. Tried the popular spicy miso. Flavorful broth, not to salty. Pork belly soft and charred. Al dente noodles. Spoked to another patron next to me. She ordered the same spicy miso, but did not like the sliced belly. Tora able to have the meat minced. Love the accommodations made. Overall I just wanted to say thank you for the experience

It's hard to find consistency in both pricing and fish quality the way Tora does it. Neatly tucked away in a lowered recess on a street in Chinatown, Tora delivers a clean and comfortable Japanese dining experience. With both bar and table seating, you can choose to be entertained by the sushi chefs and their preparation techniques or with a group of friends over a beer. Service is amicable and speedy. This review is actually 2 years overdue - haven't been able to make a trip back to Boston since recently but somehow the prices have remained stable throughout my absence. For first timers (and second timers, and third timers...) the sake aisuru don (~$24) will not steer you wrong. Three cuts of salmon over well-seasoned rice with a side of miso soup make for a simple but excellently executed meal. Might have to try the maguro toro don if I find myself in Boston again. All in all, a must visit if you're in the area and even if you're not. See you next time!

Great quality fish and affordable price. My friend and I still talk about this place whenever we eat sashimi. Definitely recommend and can't wait to come back!!

Tried the Sake Aisuru Don and unagi sashimi and really enjoyed both! The bowl was huge and I liked having salmon in three different forms. Came with miso soup, which was a nice bonus! The eel was delicious - I'd been craving unagi for so long, so this was perfect. The restaurant itself is small (not in a bad way) and super cozy. The servers were nice and our food came out way faster than expected. The only reason I didn't give this a full 5 stars is because I thought it was a little pricier than it should be.
